Es troba en el centre de [[París]], en el districte 5 de París, davant del liceu &#039;&#039;Louis Le Grand&#039;&#039; i del &#039;&#039;Collège de France&#039;&#039;, molt prop del monument [[Panteó de París|El Panteó]], de les universitats (Universitat de París I i Universitat de París II, Universitat de París V, Universitat de París VI i del [[Jardin du Luxembourc]]. En el [[Academic Ranking of World Universities]] de l&#039;any [[2021]] estava classificada en el lloc 35 del món, i en el &#039;&#039;QS World University Rankings 2022&#039;&#039; estava considerada classificada en el lloc 72 del mon.<br /> <br /> Va ser fundada en l&#039;any [[1257]] per [[Robert de Sorbon]] en l&#039;intenció de facilitar l&#039;ensenyança de la [[teologia]] als alumnes pobres.
