Rachel Carson (Springdale, 27 de maig de 1907 - Silver Spring, 14 d'abril de 1964) fon una biòloga i escritora estatunidenca. Va demostrar en els seus escrits els danys causats per l'us indiscriminat d'insecticides com el DDT, i els seus perniciosos efectes en la cadena tròfica, incloent-hi els humans, i per això se la considera la iniciadora del moviment ecologista en els EUA.
Entre les seues obres, i frut d'estos treballs, destaca Primavera Silenciosa (Silent Spring, en anglès; 1962), que contribuí a forjar la consciència ecologista contemporànea.
En el seu honor es batejà el gènero bacterià Carsonella.
