Ray Monk
Ray Monk FRSL (naixcut el 15 de febrer de 1957) és un biógraf britànic reconegut per les seues biografies de Ludwig Wittgenstein, Bertrand Russell i J. Robert Oppenheimer. És professor emèrit de filosofia en l'Universitat de Southampton, a on va ensenyar en diversos càrrecs des de 1992 fins a 2018.
Biografia
Monk es graduà en un Màster en Filosofia per l'Universitat de York en 1979. Posteriorment va obtindre un Màster en Humanitats en l'Universitat d'Oxford.
Guanyà el Premi John Llewellyn Rhys en 1990 i el Premi Duff Cooper en 1991 per la seua aclamada biografia de Ludwig Wittgenstein, Ludwig Wittgenstein: The Duty of Genius. La seua biografia en dos volums de Bertrand Russell es va publicar en 1996 i 2001. La seua biografia de J. Robert Oppenheimer es publicà en 2012.
Des de 2012 ha escrit ocasionalment per al New Statesman, contribuint en artículs sobre filòsofs i sobre el veganisme.
En 2015 fon elegit membre de la Royal Society of Literature.
