English: Gülsuyu (rose water / eau de rose) is both a food item (sprinkled over several desserts like güllaç, aşure, etc) and used as an "eau de Cologne", especially during Ramadan or among conservative people, as it does not contain alcohol. (Notice the producer, "Pe Re Ja" is a famous "eau de Cologne" brand in Turkey and not a food producing company.) Please also note that rose petals are used to make juice, liquor and sherbet (Gül suyu, Gül likörü and Gül şerbeti, respectively) in Turkey. |
