Español: Histiotus montanus, Philippi y Landbeck, 1861, murciélago orejudo menor o murciélago orejudo chico, es un pequeño murciélago perteneciente a la familia Vespertilionidos, de amplia distribución en Sudamérica.
Su característica más conspicua es el profuso desarrollo de sus orejas. Posee una longitud de 11 cm y una envergadura alar de unos 29 cm, la cola se encuentra incluida totalmente en el urupatagio. Se encuentra en numerosos tipos de ambientes; suele refugiarse en viviendas, cuevas y huecos de árboles. De hábitos nocturnos, se alimenta de insectos a los cuales captura en vuelo. Se trata de una especie rara sobre la cual se conoce muy poco. |
