Description
English: Pristimantis elegans, Chingaza National Natural Park, Colombia. Containing around 600 species, the Pristimantis genus of arboreal frogs has more species than any other genus of vertebrates, with many endemic to the Northern Andes. 60 new species have been described since 2020. This species is endemic to the Eastern Andes of Colombia and is IUCN red list Vulnerable. It was found by sound triangulation in the late (rainy) afternoon by my excellent guide Jose Borbόn and kindly identified by Colombian herpetologist Sebastian Di Domenico (Dido).
