English: The early Upanishads (Upanisad, Upanisat) are scriptures of Hinduism. Variously dated by scholars to have been composed between 900 BCE to about 200 BCE, these texts are in Sanskrit language and embedded within a layer of the Vedas. They contain a mixture of philosophy and mystical speculations, many set in the form of dialogues or pedagogic style. Their central teachings include the concepts of Atman (soul, self) and Brahman (metaphysical reality).
These manuscripts are preserved at the Lalchand Research Library, Ancient Indian Manuscript Collection, DAV College Digital Library Initiative, Chandigarh India, in association with SP Lohia and Indorama Charitable Trust. The texts are over 2000 years old, the re-copying into this particular manuscript is dated to a pre-1867 reproduction (exact date unknown). The manuscript shows significant stain marks, decay and damage on the sides and its edges. एते हस्तलेखाः लालचन्दानुसन्धानपुस्तकालये (प्राचीनभारतीयहस्तलेखसंग्रहः) डीएवीमहाविद्यालयस्य अङ्कीयग्रन्थागारे (चण्डीगढम् भारतवर्षम्) एस् पी लोहिया तथा इण्डोरामाधर्मादान्यासस्य सहयोगेन सुरक्षिताः सन्ति। ग्रन्थाः द्विसहस्रवर्षेभ्यः प्राचीनाः सन्ति अस्य विशिष्टस्य हस्तलेखस्य लिप्यन्तरणम् कल्याब्दचतुःसहस्रनवशतषडशीतितमवर्षात् पूर्वं कृतम् (निश्चिततिथिः अज्ञाता)। हस्तलेखस्य पार्श्वेषु प्रान्तेषु च मालिन्यचिह्नानि क्षयः क्षतिश्च दृश्यन्ते। भाषा - संस्कृतम् लिपिशैली : चतुर्दशशताब्द्याः पूर्ववर्तिनी (उत्तरीया / पश्चिमा) ईशोपनिषद् मन्त्राः १–२ आंशिकरूपेण ३ स्थूलाक्षराणि उपनिषद्ग्रन्थस्य सन्ति प्रान्तेषु पार्श्वेषु च सूक्ष्माक्षराणि कस्यचित् अज्ञातविदुषः टिप्पणीरूपाः व्याख्यानानि च सन्ति यानि सनातनपरम्परानुसारं गौणभाष्यशैलीम् अनुसरन्ति। उपर्युक्तं छायाचित्रं कस्याश्चित् द्विमितीयकलाकृतेः अस्ति या द्विसहस्रवर्षेभ्यः प्राचीना वर्तते हस्तलेखश्च कल्याब्दपञ्चसहस्रचतुर्विंशतितमवर्षात् दशकाभ्यां पूर्वं निर्मितः। अतः अत्र विकिमीडियाकामन्स् 'PD-Art' सार्वजनिकानुज्ञप्तिनियमाः प्रयोज्याः सन्ति। छायाकारत्वेन मम ये केऽपि अधिकाराः सन्ति तान् अहं CC ४.० अनुज्ञप्त्यन्तर्गतं विकिमीडियाकामन्स्संस्थायै समर्पयामि। |
