Idioma tati
El llenguage tati o tat/tati pèrsic[1]o tat és un llenguage iranio[2][3][1][4][5] parlat pels tats en Azerbaiyan i Rússia.[6] D'acort als etnólogos, és parlat per 18.000 persones en Azerbaiyan, 8.000 en Iran, i 2.300 en Rússia. La seua forma d'escritura està relacionada en el mig persa pahlavi. També hi ha un idioma judeu cridat juhuri que es deriva de l'idioma tati.
Vladimir Minorsky menciona en la primera edició de Encyclopaedia of Islam que de la mateixa manera que la majoria dels dialectes del persa, el tati no és molt regular en les seues característiques, i ocupa un lloc entre el persa modern i la llengua caspiana.[7] Minorsky en el seu "The Great Russian Encyclopedia" de 1901 indica que en 1901 el número de persones que parlaven tati era d'uns 135.000. En 1930, Minorsky va estimar el número de persones que parlaven tati en Turquia en uns 90.000.
El tati està en perill d'extinció.[8][9] El Atles dels idiomes del món en perill de l'UNESCO ho classifica com «greument amenaçat».[10]
