Puzrish-Dagan

Puzrish-Dagan (actual Drehem) és un important jaciment arqueològic ubicat en Al-Qādisiyyah (Iraq). És conegut per les mils de tablillas d'argila procedents del saqueig del jaciment a principis de el XX.

Història de l'investigació

Puzrish-Dagan va cridar l'atenció dels acadèmics quan varen començar a aparéixer en el mercat d'antiguetats tablillas d'argila en 1909-1910.[1] Segons l'informació dels comerciants, Puzrish-Dagan podria identificar-se en l'actual Drehem en Iraq.[2] Des de llavors, s'han publicat unes 12.000 tabletas que es creu procedixen del lloc.[3][4] Els objectes es troben dispersos en numeroses coleccions, per eixemple en el Museu Real de Ontario, l'Institut Oriental, el Museu de Harvard i el Museu d'Iraq.[5][6] Stephen Herbert Langdon va excavar allí breument en 1924.[7]

El jaciment va ser inspeccionat per Robert McCormick Adams durant els seus treballs treballe arqueològics en la regió.[8][9] Igualment, arqueòlecs iraquí varen realisar excavacions en 2007 baixe la direcció d'Ali Ubeid Shalkam[10][11][12] i el proyecte QADIS iraquí-italià va estudiar el lloc en 2016.[13] Entre 2016 i 2019, l'Universitat de Bolonya i la Junta Estatal Iraquí d'Antiguetats i Patrimoni varen desenrollar un programa de teledetección i estudis de superfície en la província de Qadisiyah, inclós Drehem,[14][15]que va determinar que el lloc tenia una extensió de 60 hectàrees i que la ciutat estava rodejada de canals, disposta com una cuadrícula urbana, en varis edificis administratius i port.[16]

L'Institut Oriental va rebre permís per a iniciar noves excavacions en el lloc com a part del seu treball renovat en el propenc jaciment de Nippur i va portar a terme un estudi preliminar en 2019.[17]

El jaciment i el seu entorn

Puzrish-Dagan es troba a uns 10 quilómetros al surest de Nippur, del com a voltes s'ha considerat suburbi. Es poden distinguir dos àrees; un montícul nort i un atre sur. El montícul nort medix 380x240x4 metros en un àrea total de 10 hectàrees. El montícul sur és una miqueta més gran: medix 560x275 metros i té una altura de 8,5 metros, ocupant un àrea de 15 hectàrees. En l'actualitat, hi ha zones enterrades baix explotacions agrícoles actuals i és travessat per varis canals de rec.[13] El montícul ha segut descrit com una "colmena" pel saqueig illegal que s'ha produït des de principis de el XX.[17]


Segons la morfologia del jaciment, el montícul sur possiblement continga un zigurat . És provable que abdós montículs continguen grans edificacions; restants de murs encara són visibles en superfície i la regularitat d'estes chafades sugerix que els edificis varen ser planificats i construïts en un curt periodo de temps. L'estudi QADIS ha documentat possibles restants d'una muralla de la ciutat, un gran complex de temples junt al zigurat, antics canals que discorrien a lo llarc i a través de l'assentament i un port.[13][17]
