Idioma azerí
El azerí, també cridat azerbaiyano o turc azerbaiyano (autoglotónimos: Azərbaycan dili, Azərbaycanca, Azərbaycan türkcəsi), és l'idioma parlat pels azeríes, idioma oficial d'Azerbaiyan. És una llengua túrquica, de la branca oghuz, que presenta similitut en el turc, el kashgai o el turcomano i influïda pel persa, l'àrap i, en menor mida, pel rus. Presenta varis dialectes parlats també per comunitats fòra d'Azerbaiyan, sobretot en Iran, Turquia i Rússia.

Nomenclatura
[editar | editar còdic]Durant el periodo inicial de la República d'Azerbaiyan, l'idioma es denominava türk dili (‘idioma turc’),[1] pero des de 1994 s'usa el nom azərbaycan dili (‘idioma azerí’).[2][3] En moltes parts d'Iran es denomina al azerí turki o torki (‘turc’),[4] per lo que al turc de Turquia se li crida «turc d'Estambul». El còdic ISO ho denomina "azerí".
